Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a formal diagnosis to join?

No. Many men experience anxiety and depression and never get a formal diagnosis. In fact, one of the goals of the group is to help men in this situation seek the help or treatment they need.

Is this group therapy?

No. This is a support group, not group therapy. The purpose of this group is to bring together peers to discuss their stories and struggles. It is not a clinical setting in which any forms of treatment will be prescribed.

Why the name BAD Men?

BAD is an acronym for Bipolar, Anxious, and Depressed. However, it’s also intended to destigmatize mental illness and treatment among men. Men who struggle with these challenges can often feel labeled as “less than”. We believe that BAD Men are not bad men.
